Buck 111

You have the entire Classic set ! Way to go . All in the 3 dot stamp . Thats a nice collection . When we discussed those a while back many of us wanted that set . Did only the 111 and 510 have the nice tooled sheath's ? DM

Well, then, I have the opinion that the Classic Family has five members ;-))

Haebbie

This is interesting as the 1985 catalog only shows 3 but we know the 111 was out before this and its not pictured . Only the 510, 513 and 515 . So, I guess the 517 came later . I think they did stuff like this to confuse us . Really, its a great series worthy of collecting . Plus, I didn't realize there were five . Thanks . DM

Haebbie, That second knife has the 111 handle more pointed on the end holding a drop point blade . Whereas the 500's handles were more rounded on the end . Whats the number on that one ? DM

A little confusion enriches life - doesn't it?

DM, the drop point 111 has a 426 blade. But you can't remove it.
I don't know who changes the blade, but it was the way to go.
I think we have the same point of view:
The drop point blade fits to the 5xx classics a lot more than
the clip point blade from the 110.

Haebbie

As to all having the 3 dot stamp... I'd have to check when I get the chance. This set was put together piecemeal so I doubt if they are all 3 dots.

And Haebbie, you have some real beauties!

I have the complete set (minus the drop point 111) plus a couple of duplicates. I don't believe any but the 111's used the dot system of date stamps. Only one of my smaller ones have any date stamp and it's an upside down V. All the rest have the old style script "Buck" and no date stamp at all.

Thanks, guys, for your kind words!

And I think, Dave, you are right. My little classics have no date stamps too.
