Buck 112 F+F problems? - help- UPDATE- AGAIN

I agree with Pinnah. Use your 112 and enjoy it. You can chase aesthetics until the cows come home. You've got a perfectly serviceable knife, have fun with it.

Let me preface that I'm a fan of Buck. But just like GEC they shouldn't get a free ff pass because folks are sentimental on the brand.

I love lockbacks. The ones that come to mind are agr Barlow, delica, kabar Dozier, schrade, RR lockback, Goddard all had flush spines and were smooth and sharp out of the box.

I was a little disappointed with a 110 I recently bought. When closing the blade it doesn't go all the way home and the tip sits a little high with the point exposed. On further investigation when the blade swings shut it actually closes all the way but bounces back up and lays to rest high due to a tight spot between the blade and frame . It's a bit annoying but hopefully should go with wear.

I f you haven't already try some dish soap in the pivot, then work the blade open and closed under hot top water. Dry and lube. Sometimes buffing compound can get in the pivot and cause problems.

A 112 I got recently was a little on the "less than perfect" side as well. At first I was disappointed because I was expecting perfection. My bolsters got a rainbow hue after about 30 seconds in the sheath, there was a small flat spot on the blade, gritty opening, etc. But, after using it and putting it through some work it turned out fine. Better than fine actually. It's smooth, sharp, and it looks great. Hopefully some of the issues people have will work themselves out in time...
