Buck 112 overhaul

Here is a knife I made my grandpa for Christmas. I took a Buck 112, sawed the bottom bolster off, pried off the scales, removed the pins, reshaped it a little to make it more rounded and remove some weight, then replaced the scales with Cholla cactus and PC-7 epoxy to fill the holes.

I should also mention that it is finished with a mix of linseed oil (thinned 50/50) and beeswax (dissolve some shavings in the oil).

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I was making myself one too, but I accidentally destroyed one of the liners, so it looks like I will be recreating the handle from scratch!

looks very nice maybe a bit of engraving on the balsters would ehance it even more just a thought. I love the way buck do there grinds I just bought a buck vantage fantastic knife

Thank you all for the compliments. I have been enjoying this forum as a lurker for a while now - especially the traditional and slip joint section. I share that nostalgia for things from a previous era. Thank you to everyone here for inspiration.
