I purchased a Ranger Sport recently and wondered if any other owners had taken the knife apart yet. A lot seems to have been said about the screw together construction but I can’t find anything that shows the knife disassembled.

It looks simple enough but just wondering if there is any complexity in putting things back together again.

My question would apply equally to the 110 Hunter Sport.

Apart from general curiosity, I am interested in what might be between the frame and the rocker bar. On my knife there is a distinct gap between the bar and the frame (non pocket clip side). The gap is not noticeable on the other side. When I hold the knife up to the light it looks like there might be spacer material extending for about an inch between the bar and the frame. Tried to take a pic but couldn’t get a decent one.
Anyone else notice the same thing?

There's nothing between the frame and lock bar.

When you take it apart, be careful not to lose the lock bar pivot pin. It's not fastened in place and it's about 1/4" long, 1/8" diameter and will disappear in carpet forever....lol

I think you should see daylight between the lock bar and the frame, either on one or both sides of the lock bar. The Frame is Cerakoted so if the lock bar and the spring holder and blade bushing were all the same dimension, there would be binding on the lock bar and wear on the coated parts.

This is purely speculation on my part. ;)

To tell the truth I have been fascinated by the concept from the first 110. But I have never grabbed a tool and took any of mine apart yet..In my youth I took many a fishing reel apart..but always seemed to have a few parts left over. Some even kinda worked after! But I have neuropathy in my one 'good' hand and that makes little screws/parts hard to feel much less assemble correctly. Take a picture of each step as you take it apart or even a video so you can give yourself tips..That worked for me on a Crown Vic Sport when I had to fix the airconditing blend doors a take apart some of the dash..

Great advice, bucksway bucksway . That has worked well for me too, in the past.

OK it got the better of me and I took the knife apart.
Disassembly was straightforward.
Putting it back together wasn’t that challenging but getting the rocker bar pin back in was fiddly.
Pleased to report that I have no leftover parts and the knife functions as before.
What I could make out inside the frame before taking it apart was an accumulation of oil. Combination of dark colours and my old eyes thought it was part of the frame. Once apart, I wiped it out and now all is clear.
Some pics below might be of assistance to someone.

The Selector was and is a great example of the Take-Apart concept to make a folder do what you need it to be for different cutting tasks. But does not help for deep cleaning. Being able to simply drop in a freshly sharpened blade..Priceless!

I don't see the plastic blade safety sleeve, the directions clearly state to insert the blade in the plastic safety sleeve. 😉

That doesn’t appear to be a sport model but a slim model in those pictures. I’d like to see how the new sport aluminum frame 112 and 110 are when taken apart. Guess I’ll have to do my own investigation. Lol

Should be 24 loose pieces.

I know... it's not fully disassembled in a pile, but the only photo I have, I think.

1- blade assembly (w/ stud and bushing)
2- rear frame screw male
2- rear frame screw female
1- pivot screw male
1- pivot screw female
6- handle screws
1- pivot pin
1- left frame side
1- right frame side
1- left handle scale
1- right handle scale
2- pocket clip screws
1- pocket clip
1- spring holder
1- spring
1- lock bar
