Buck 112 w/quickdraw sheath

I concede that I didn't come right out and say that I wanted it. I'll give you guys that. I did however express interest in it first. My apoligies there to Tom and Franklin for not being more consise for you. I do feel that honesttom should have said if STR is not taking the knife I'd like to buy it though as to me that is the general way to handle these type of things. I am not generally known for wasting peoples time or screwing around here. I felt that I certainly expressed enough interest in this knife with my questions to justify acknowledgement of my first reply but instead was left thinking I must be invisible or something. Tom it wasn't really your knife except for the way you just swooped right in on it with no thought to my post ahead of yours in the wee hours of the morning after I was in bed.

I've been around awhile and have found everyone is top-notch and curtious.

Thanks to all involved for a interesting (to say the least) deal!

you didn't outright express positive interest in buying the knife but you
did lay it on thick about the knife appearing well used and expressed
concern about functionability that part you made really clear, just my opinion

STR, you asked your questions and Tom just bought the knife based on the information he had.

It's that simple.

Sometimes, you just don't get your way. I guess here, you made enough of a stink you got your way. ON the other hand, these guys are being far more generous than need be.

You got your answer to your query, about an hour and a half after you asked.

This is Tom's knife, but he's giving it to you. I wouldn't. You come in after the knife is sold acting like a sanctimonious jerk, you could kiss my backside at high noon in town square and I'd still walk out wearing MY knife.

Oh, in the event there's too many big words here for you to get past your original point and digest some of the other information in this thread, telling Tom he's on the shitlist makes you look like like a whiner and a sore loser.

Now is that as clear as you need?

Do us both a favor - don't PM, email or otherwise solicit me for any item I may have for sale in the future. I won't sell it to anyone acting like a litigant.

Franklin, Tom, sorry this worked out this way for you guys.

EDIT TO ADD -

STR, you are right, it was a little harsh of me to put the above up - given the initial context of this whole mess, I'll leave it since I prefer the situation be shown, you are entitled to some sleep, but then again, the net is a 24-hour gig and given the comedy of errors? - Franklin's a good guy and honest errors were made. Tom got caught in the middle of this.

We have no history at all - I see two guys doing an honest transaction and both of them being blasted for it, one of whom I know to be a stand-up guy and the other making a deal. So between you and I, no love lost but no animosity beyond this page - work for you?

Now can we go back to knives or?

No worries Parker. I won't bother you with any more replies or concerns if that is what you want and how you feel about me after one or two posts. I am not trying to be a whiner. If the mods here and the other guys here on these forums that I love feel as you please say so and I'll make it right with Tom. I thought I was right but am certainly man enough to acknowledge when I'm not.

Considering that you have only third party interest in this deal I'm surprised at how overly critical you are here with me. Do we have a history or something because the way you are hot it seems you have other issues with me besides this? Just curious.

Parker he posted the answer to my questions after midnight my time. I was in bed man. Surely you can understand that. I mean come on. I'm entitled to sleep aren't I?

Opinions?

STR

Just for the record i didn't offer to give it back, my money was just refunded without prior notice, so i bought the knife then it was taken away, STR did
throw a fit to get his was , since i'm on his shit list maybe i should pay for the
knife and have it sent to him to make STR feel better

I feel bad about this now. I thought I had made a pretty good case that I was interested in it in my first post but if not I can admit I was wrong here.

How about a moderator for some objective input here? One of you guys call it and I'll concede to your call if the other guys will.

And you are not on my $hit list Tom. I said that more in jest like it means anything at all. Would it have helped if I stuck a happy face after it? I regret that this happened this way. It was not my intent this morning to start a flame war or derail a thread. My apologies to all concerned.

Problem Solved.

After closely reviewing this situation, it's obvious that there was a glitch in mine & STR's online communications... SPELLED my fault, on my end and my control panel set-up.

I will again apologize for this, and will see it does not happen again.

Thanks to all.

I feel sick over this deal and feel i did nothing wrong , all i did was say i'd take it for his price , i then got an email with paypal address and i paid and if i was out of line and rude i will pay for the knife and have it sent to STR

WTF?

I've diligently explained this situation.
I'll do it again.
Due to my forum options, I did not have my pm's and/or emails turned on.
Thus, STR DID NOT receive my PM's or Emails.
Therefore, after all... STR was left in the dark. Period, End of Story.

Parker. We're cool. I have no quarrel with you my friend. I did think you were a bit angry at me but thats fine. It happens.

Franklin. I'm fine and hope that you and Tom are also.

Alls I know is I had just had a shower, saw a knife as I was yawning, posted some questions and what I thought was interest in it and when I woke up in the morning it was marked sold to someone else and I had no messages in my in box in email or PMs. I should have had my coffee before making posts I guess. Well, that and my BP meds. :D

Again my sincere apologies to all involved if I upset or hurt anyone by my reaction. I hope this one is a done deal.

STR

1 last point needs to be made.

honesttom obviously received premature information.

And for that, I apologize Tom.

Stay tuned, more "long-time & personal" knives will be up for sale.

All:

Not that you have asked for my input, but I think the following thread will be helpful to explain the difference between inquiring on an item and actually committing to buy it. Please read the entire thread as several people made very good points. BF protocol regarding selling/buying knives, as far as I have observed, revolves around the "i'll take it" phrase. Although there was a glitch in emails/pm's in your case, the first guy to pay for the knife was not aware of the glitch, and was going only on what was visible in the thread, which appears to be just an inquiry on condition and not a solid offer, so he is definitely not in the wrong. I have bought and sold many knives here, and my PERSONAL etiquette is that if someone inquired about specifics but did not make an indication that they would buy based on the answer to his question, I do not consider that person "first in line", but if the person says something like "can you tell me if it is the 3/16 inch width, and if so I'll take it," I'll say " if so-and-so doesn't buy it, I want to be next in line". As I said though, that is just what I do out of courtesy. For what it's worth, here's the thread:

cstorr, actually I did ask for input so thanks.

I see now how it could be interpretted as vaque, probably due to my lack of sleep and not really being with it at the time but I felt that saying, "how do you want paid if its got a clean bill of health" as being roughly the same as saying I'll take it if it is in good shape.

STR

I just checked back and you're right you did ask for input. I would have to say too that this is one of the tougher calls as I'm sure tom did no wrong, the seller had technical issues, and you did make a conditional offer based on your wording, although it was hard to interpret...too bad there aren't two knives available...

Bottom line...
This is a classic example of "technical errors."
No one was wrong, so no need to vilify anyone.

Thanks for all the input! :D
