The Buck 112 is really hard to beat for a good working 3" lockback. Mine are newer, with nicks, and are keepers to be passed on. Great lockblades.

A two-dot pair (112 and 110), bought seperately on That Big Auction Site. A former owner reshaped the blade on the 112, either by a lot of sharpening or to deal with a snapped-off blade tip.

Both are fine models of knife.

That 112 looks like someone sharpened from the back to the front. Looks great tho. I'll post pix of my pair of 2 dots.

Could well be, buckman. I just refreshed the edge, with no (visible) effect on the blade profile.

The sleeks on the 110 blade (which are on both sides) are also as it came to me. Looks like somone was sharpening at a very low angle and did a bit of work on the high "ridges" on the blade. This image shows the sleeks better:

I can tell u how to get that 110 lookin like the original edge bee bee very simple. And a bg42 blade stamped as a 2 dot!

Thanks, but I'm happy with it as is — blade is nice and sharp after a little tweaking. (In buying a used knife, as these two were, I generally accept the thing as is, unless there's an obvious defect that needs fixing. Basically, I figure I'm just adding to its history, not trying to rework it or reset the clock on it...)

I got mine scary sharp. But just curious how do u sharpen your 440? Always asking. So many techniques.

Freehand, on a Norton combination coarse/ fine India stone, 2X8". It gives a good utility edge. DM

I generally use a lanskey I also have a old school Smith's tri hone got it at the flea market for 15 bucks! What r u referring to as a utility edge? Smooth, toothy?

It will cut most things well. This edge is not as toothy as the edge left from a coarse diamond. DM
