Why not use tools designed for splitting wood like, you know a hatchet or an axe?

LOL at using a 420 HC hunting knife to baton wood....you could of bought a USA made Council Tool hatchet or axe for cheaper than a Buck 119 and it would of did a much better job.

the 119 has 420 HC stainless steel, 420 is too soft and the blade is too thin for the method of knife testing you intended to use it for. A much better test for this particular knife is to go skin a large animal.
