That’s a good rhyme.
As I read some of the posts on the different forums including the general I sometimes have to scratch my head and wonder.
I’ve used all kinds of knives and cutting tools for 50+ years now in all kinds of situations and environments. I’m no expert but I can usually figure things out to achieve a proper outcome.
Some of the abuse and failures I’ve read about are do to a lack of understanding and not actually a knife or tool failure. Everything has a limit and when that limit is exceeded you can expect it to fail. Also a lack of care or maintenance can be a reason for failure.
I just read a post about lock back knives such as the Buck 110 is prone to failure. What? I don’t know what they are doing or how but I’ve never had any problems of any of my 110s failing to stay locked open. Maybe they had some dirt or debris in the lock notch or rocker that kept it from fully engaging or worn out parts, or something similar but if it is fully engaged I don’t see how it could fail unless they were exceeding the force limit. Either way it could be avoided using some forethought and maintenance. Anytime a tool is misused or abused it can and will fail. Maybe they need a fixed blade, axe, Froe or saw instead of a folding knife.
