Here's a picture of every factory version from 1961 thru 1985. Thats from the leather spacer barrel nut (1961) at the bottom to the two micarta spacer (1985) at the top. It's hard to see the differences in the specific knives.
No, its not mine - I was duck hunting in Arkansas last January and kicked some stuff/junk/debris out of my way to sit in the boat and this well used, poorly treated, mud encrusted Buck 119 surfaced - I had to take a picture of it! OH
Why, I say that because your not the only person who has said that. I personally feel the stamp is crowed and a bit much. I really don't care for any of the year marks but do see the necessity in it. I really hate the laser engraving Buck does now.
I don't know what "crowed" means so I won't comment on that.
I really like the Idaho stamp myself and I've gone out of my way to collect as many models as I could with it. I think it was an awesome choice for the year they moved to Idaho, a natural in my opinion.
The anvil stamp is the one no longer special in my opinion. It could have been if it had only been used in 2002 as a tribute to Buck's centennial year. As it is, it's way over used in my opinion and has no special meaning anymore.
Jerry, A excellant early model. Old Hunter I like the photo of the 119 in the boat. I like the year date ones too. Espically the first six. They give us more exact information. DM
What I mean by crowed is that it (the Idaho stamp, the anvil, or the year mark) takes away from the BUCK stamp. Trying to add more is not always a good thing and in my opinion, in this case I think the Idaho picture in the stamp is too much. Its a personal preference
