Buck 119 mods?

Haebbie, I love that knife everytime you post a pic of it.

Thank you, Scott. The knife is one of my favorites too.
The 119 with Sambar Stag handle is a great knife too. That's
a knife that I want to have in my collection.

Haebbie, Is your 119 stamped on the other side? DM

No, it is not stamped at all. I think it went awol out of the
factory before it was finished ;) I found the blade in a German
weapon store.

Here's a picture of every factory version from 1961 thru 1985. Thats from the leather spacer barrel nut (1961) at the bottom to the two micarta spacer (1985) at the top. It's hard to see the differences in the specific knives.

Matt, I dreamed from your one line 119s last night. That's agreat
collection. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Herbert, You have a very nice collection as well. We have different ends of the spectrum. You have fancy models and I have factory productions. Its great being a collector.

The leather handled 119 would have been hands-down my one and only woods knife if not for those darn spacers. :grumpy:

Wow yes! Didn't know such a thing existed, would please give some background on it? Thanks!

Well, I don't have a lot Background. The only thing I know is that it was a limited edition for the "Cutlery Shoppe",
made in the mid nineties. If you like, I can dig out the catalog number.

Thank you Haebbie, no need to look for the number.

This thread has been a great reminder of how special the 119 is, I wish I had more opportunities to carry mine.

What I mean by crowed is that it (the Idaho stamp, the anvil, or the year mark) takes away from the BUCK stamp. Trying to add more is not always a good thing and in my opinion, in this case I think the Idaho picture in the stamp is too much. Its a personal preference

Do you mean "crowded"? If so, now I understand.

The leather handled 119 would definately be a great all around hunting knife, nice and grippy when wet and as you use it the leather handle will roughen up and make a heck of a nice grip wet or dry.

I picked this one off an auction site for next to nuthin. Apparently it was bought from a custom shop employee.
