Buck 119 Special Special

I'd like to know what you folks think of the wood handled version of the 119. Is the wood very durable? I wonder if it is mostly hollowed out? Has this version been offered for long? All info and opinions would be appreciated!

Hello,
The 119 with a wood handle will be heavier than a standard 119 but mostly because it usually comes with a brass pommel instead of aluminum. As far as its durability, it is every bit as strong as the standard phenolic handle. I get very few returns for broken handles on either type and it is almost always due to extreme abuse. The handle has a slot just big enough for the tang to go through.
