Buck 119 vs Vangaued vs kabar

I can't speak to the Vangard but this thread has many pics and comments of a Ka-Bar vs. 119 test of wood splitting and chopping.
I have all three.
If it was a one knife only situation, I would say the Ka-bar.
Add an axe or machete into the equation, It comes to which one you like the looks of more the 119 or the 192.
PS, just for the record, there are better knives then these for the same price or a little more.

The preceding linked thread gives you some idea why you might like a heavier blade such as on the Kabar. For my taste it is kind of bulky. I don't like the large round handle, it makes it sort of handle-heavy. I would look at a quartermaster knife from Ontario. It is a bit more compact and has a heavier blade.

I really like the Quartermaster. A friends dad left him an original in mint condition. One sweet knife for sure. Examples of the original cattaraugus 225Q are available on ebay as I type this.
Just out of curiosity why do people always compare the 119 to a kabar? Isn't the Buck 120 closer to the kabar in size? I know its not in regular production anymore but you can still get them from cabelas

They would but thats just it, you cant get them easily anymore. Plus the 119 is still pretty close in size. At's actually thicker then the ka-bar.
Oh BTW, oliver didn't you do a review of a Kershaw outcast? If so, do you have a link to it?

Yeah you can't get the 120 in most stores anymore only at cabelas.
However as far as i know they are a regular item at cabelas.
To me the 120 and the frontiersman are "the" buck knives, i hate it when they discontinue or limit classics to "special run or exclusive to one seller" status.
Also i think SIR mail order in Winnipeg had a special run of 120's made last year or the year before but for an insanely expensive price around 300$ (i think).
I have a 119 but i always wanted a 120.
Anybody here own a cabela buck 120?
Yeah Kabars are good knives. I've had one for about 7 years, not the USMC model but a discontinued model. Basically the stainless slightly different version of this

Its a much better chopper than my 119 but i still like them both.
