My beloved 119 is still produced with an old 420HC why ??
I would love to see a 119 or why not a resurrected 120 in a good CM-154 or N690 or why not D2..

Welcome to Bladeforums.com orologio!!! :D Please take a moment or two to visit our benefactors, Buck Knives http://www.buckknives.com/ and One Stop Knife Shop http://www.onestopknifeshop.com/ (Kevin owns this Forum!) ;)

Buck has a very interesting Virtual Plant Tour at http://www.buckknives.com/plant_tour.php , a guide to Tang Stamp Codes at http://www.buckknives.com/collectors_vintage.php , and there is a brief introduction to the Buck Collectors Club at http://www.buckknives.com/collectors_club.php . The Buck Collectors Club commissions special and unique versions of Buck knives for member sales only, so you might want to consider joining to gain access to some of these truly awesome knives!!! :)

Now, to get back to your question... :p Buck knives are really a compromise. Everyone has a different opinion on what is "right", whether it is shape, size, color, blade shape or steel composition, etc. So all Buck knives are based on the lowest common denominator, in your case (blade steel) 420HC is the best compromise. Buck builds for the masses, not individuals. :D

Having said that, there are variations available from the Buck Custom Shoppe (link on their web page). The BCCI also commissions selected features to incorporate into their Annual Knives, Fund Raiser knives, and Special Editions. Buck itself also issues Special Editions from time to time. It is quite possible that Buck has made (or will make) your favorite knife in your favorite configuration...

Hope this helps! ;)

I once field dressed, skinned and quartered a moose with a 119 in 420HC -- had to touch it up a couple of times with a diamond hone, which probably took about two minutes total... that's not too bad for an 'inferior' steel . But you can get Buck blades in S30V/ATS34 from Cabella's and other sources.

Cabela's has the 110 Alaskan Guide in S30V; Bass Pro has the 110 in CPM154...but who is it that has the 110 in ATS-34???

Or is it some other model in ATS-34???
