Tele, Your question struck a cord w/ me as I remembered hearing that at some point .
After some digging I found it . In one of Joe H. handouts in his seminar on the 100 series from the 20 yr. reunion . It states; Group ten knives will have spacers of dural,leather and occasionally brass, stamped Buck on the left side of the blade . Circa 1956-61
Later wording; barrel nut construction used in 1961 . Hope this helps. DM
