Hello All,
I have always been partial to the aluminum and phenolic 100 series. My first was a 102 that I bought in the mid 80's that I still use today. I have had a couple 120's; an older 3 line I bought from ebay in the early 2000's and a 1995 that my dad gave me as new, old stock in 2003 or so. I like them a lot and have used them for carving turkey, ham at holidays, making hotdog sticks for a bonfire, chopping saplings etc. Long story short, I got the itch for a 120 heritage series in D2 and it should arrive Tuesday. I don't really need two much less 3 of these big guys...That got me wondering, I know they are marketed as a large boning knife/all purpose Bowie, but I am curious what you folks use them for...if anything other than looking cool.

I bought the whole 100 Heritage series (102,103,105,119,120) last year. They are works of art. I just look at them, though. Knife enthusiast but not really an outdoorsman, camper, hunter, fisher, tactical, prepper, or anything like that. I also have other fixed blade versions and hope to add the 117 this year. But mostly I collect folders and mostly 112s.

It’s all in the story, to carve the roast beast! OH

I have had a book in my library since the early 1990's, written by a former Green Beret (as they used to be referred to) and sold back then in the PX Bookstore. Everybody's Knife Bible (3rd Ed.) by Don Paul. Great little paperback book that was oriented to hunters, combat, and survival using a knife (and other tools) - he was very high on the Buck 120 and customized his to do a lot of simple survival tasks - most illustrated in the book. OH

They make good movie props!
I'm a collector so I can only vouch for their ability to cut air really well.
On the more serious side, my older brother gifted a 120 to his HS buddy who was leaving for Vietnam in the 60's. CB's as I recall.

I received my 120 this afternoon, very happy with it. Someone got a bit over zealous on one side of the aluminum butt making it a little asymmetrical but I am an accumulator/user so it doesn't bother me much. It may be more knife than I will ever need but I enjoy using my 120's whenever I can find an excuse. Cheers
