This is my first post I just bought a buck 124 and the handles are a little too square for my hands. Have any of you reshaped these handles before and how did it turn out as far as looks?

Most folks don't reshape these. Because they are collectables. But do what you want. DM

I bought this one for a user i want ever sell it. I would like it to fit my hands a little better

Welcome, baeu. Just purchase some sheets of sand paper in various grits. Up to 800 grit and with a block of wood, start sanding. Tape up the guard and pommel and sand until you get it the way you like. Can you do pictures? DM

Call or contact Buck about the issue they can prbly actually help you. Youd have to wait for a couple weeks maybe more for the knife to go to them and come back but Id contact Buck CS about the issue first. Buck CS in my experience has been above average. Im thinking it would go through their repair or custom shop to be done properly as possible OR they would get the proper info on how to do it and tell you how to do it yourself if sending it back is not an option. Micarta dust sucks to breathe

I can't find the thread at the moment but as I recall a member posted earlier this year about reshaping the handle on his 124 to make it more rounded and it turned out great.

Do you recall how he got the color right I know sanding Micarta changes the color

You need to wear a breather and have some eye protection. Micarta dust will do terrible things to your lungs (kinda like G10 does).

I am not saying not to do it, but if it were my knife, and it is so collectable, I would buy a new 124 and put that Micarta knife up; but that's me.

I assumed the OP's knife is one of the newer 124s. I have heard that the Micarta handle on the newer 124 is a little blocky.

I think Celtic gave some good advice. I'd contact Buck and see if they could round the handle a little. Those Buck guys are always willing to help if they can.

O, I thought it was an old knife. I was not aware they were making the new 124's with Micarta. In that case, get a respirator mask, goggles, and sand that thing.

Let me clarify. The 124's with micarta handles made from 1972-82 are the sought after models. These new models are fine knives just not hard to find and don't have a blade of 440C steel. DM
