Buck 143 Paklite Skinner

Once the handle is wrappe din paracprd you have to press it hard into the liner of the sheath and hold it for a while to get it to stretch. That allows the retention strap to snap shut.

I also wrapped some electric tape around the retention strap to protect it just in case. The one bad thing about the knife is the crappy sheath but for less than $20 what do you want when the knife itself is good.

Mine came razor sharp and has been esy to touch up when it dulled.

Also appears that there is a new 141 version out that looks interesting

I was looking into maybe getting one of these and I was wondering if anyone here has one or if they have any experience with them? Thanks in advance!

I've heard negative feedback on the 143's handle, but I just don't see it. It is a skinning knife, so using it for other purposes might not be the best idea. A skeleton handle is ideal for an avid hunter who does not need organic matter rotting in rivets, between plates, or in silk. This knife is very capable of performing the job it was created for and personally I think it's a steal for the price.

i bought the 143 awhile back in my search to find the perfect knife to strap on the Hoodlums sheath. i like it, but im gonna definitely have to try wrapping the handle with some paracord. cant believe i didnt think of that.

Just wrapped the handle on my 143 with 550 cord and love it. It feels great and is multi useful. It doesn't fit in the sheath very well now though. I can still get it in but it is a tight fit.

does anyone offer some aftermarket grips for this little knife? i have a couple Becker BK11s and did the paracord thing, but a set of micartas made it a much better feeling knife.

something like this....

Roll back the outer sheath and cut off the top of the inner plastic sheath and it will fit fine. ;)

All that needed to be cut off was about 1/2" off of the back side of the inner sheath.
