BUCK 184 PAT. PEND side B

Fab, you have a wonderful collection, thank you for sharing. Your photography is exceptional, would you mind telling me what kind of lighting you are using? It looks to me like a studio set up of some kind. Are you a professional photographer?
Dave

biboufab welcome to the forum. I enjoyed looking at your collection very much. That is one of the really great things about our hobby. There are so many Bucks to choose from you can have a good sized collection and it wouldn’t necessarily have anything in it that was in my good sized collection. Very interesting, Thanks for sharing.

HI Dave! i'm not a Pro-photographer !the light is simply with the flash ! in the dark of my room.
And the material, just a finepix 3X FJfilm at 200 $

Welcome to the forum biboufab. Nice collection. How hard is it to find Buck 184's and M9's in France?

Yes Scott ! I'm a new collector of GREAT AMERICAN M9 and other SURVIVAL !

Thanx Scott

i like the milt spec knives but they are too expensive now for me...
here is the only fixed blade miltary i have and it is the LAST one of 6 made and two of them are still at buck knives... this was made in '76 or '77 by leroy remer the custom knife maker for buck for over 15 years!
if it looks 'odd' that is because it started as a blank for bucks
1776~1976 bowie for the USA's 200 years cellabration..

of the 8 miltary fixed blades i had this is the last i have to get rid of after decideing not to to do miltary at all... jest do buck 110's now ... yep jest a folding hunter collector now,,,

Biboufab,
Really enjoyed looking at your collection, thanks for sharing.
On page two,you have:
BUCK 184 with PAT.PEND on side " b " (probably 200 ex. according the great Bill PORTER,Master of Blade)

Not disputing the above, just wondering where you got this info.
I only ask because I have an example.
Thanks again for the nice knives and pics.

Welcome! :D

I corresponded with Joe Houser when I first saw this blade marking. He informed me that there were a couple hundred made with this marking.

Welcome Fab!!! Nice to have you here at the forums. Thanks for sharing the great pictures, you have a nice collection.
The first one that caught my eye was the PAT. PEND. 184. It is only a guess but 200 pieces might be right. Probably we made the decision to mark all 184's PAT. PEND. but it takes a while to get our stamps changed over so we grab an "existing?" pat pend stamp and stamp the back.
The other theory is that we got the new stamps but had a small amount that were already stamped BUCK, 184, U.S.A. So we stamped PAT. PEND. on the other side rather than trying to re-stamp the A side.
I hope this makes sense.

Fabrizio,
I got a good chuckle out of your post! :D If you don't mind, I need to show it to my wife, she needs to hear stuff like this from someone other than me from time to time...:rolleyes:;)
If you have any other Buck questions, please feel free to send me an email, or ask them here, I am always happy to help.
