This is my first post on the forums, although I have been lurking for some time. I am the proud owner of a Buck 185, AKA the Buckmaster LT. This knife has the same blade as the Buckmaster, however it has a flat, skeletonized handle covered with a rubbery black coating. I have searched the forums (this and others) and have drawn a complete blank on this knife. Is it extremely rare, or such a spectacular turkey that no one will talk about it? I believe I bought it in the late '80's, and I am interested in the history, materials, production runs, and performance of this model versus its tube-handled brethren. Thanks in advance for any information!

KWG,
Welcome to the forums! I am honored that your first post was here.
I can answer some of your questions about the 185. We made about 6000 of them from 1986 to 1989. The suggested list at the time they were discontinued was about $120. The last time i saw one sell on an online auction it went for $102. That seems kind of low to me and i don't know the condition of that particular knife.
I hope this helps. Hopefully other forumites can help on your performance questions.

Take care,
