...at a knife distributor who we can't name...
Box Elder Burl and Impala Jigged Buffalo Horn
Since introduced by Bob Loveless in the late 1960s, the drop point has become the accepted standard for hunting blade shapes. In the 1990s, Buck introduced the Vanguard, their version of Loveless's drop point blade. Over the years, they have produced limited quantities with non-standard handle materials. Early in 2006, we arranged for them to make a limited version with ironwood and "impala." It was such a success that we had over 50 people who missed out. In response, we ordered another limited version with Box Elder Burl and "impala."
The 4-1/8" blade is 420HC stainless at 57-59 Rc. The finish is a step up from Buck's standard finish with blade, nickel silver hilt and butt all mirror polished. The handle is half stabilized Box Elder Burl and half Impala jigged Buffalo Horn with nickel silver spacers. Weighs 6.6 oz. Includes a leather sheath. Made in the U.S.A.
