Buck 301 handle recommendations?

I had a yellow one. I really didn't like the glued on shield. The black sawcut ones are pinned I think. Knarfeng might know a little better.

I need to get a black one.

I have a sawcut black 301 & 303, a yellow 303 and a dymondwood 305.

Each of the handles are nice in any way. The pic shown above of the dymondwood 301 is really great looking.

IMO (!!) the black sawcut and yellow are just some classic handle materials on these knives. The dymondwood will make it an unique look.

I depends on your personal prefernce on what want.

About the yellow ones: I´ve read, almost some time ago, on the Buck subforum that they will be discontinued in near future.

I absolutely love the sawcut derlin. It's like the Buck trademark on their smaller knives. Plus I like the shields they put into the derlin ones better.

I have the charcoal Dymondwood and I like it.

I think that Dymondwood has gotten a bit of a bad rep due to the use of the funky multicolor stuff on poorly made cheap import knives. The single color variety looks much nicer and is very durable. It wouldn't be my first choice compared to natural materials, but it is a nice option among manufactured products.

This.

If I were to buy one it was definitely like this one.

Dragging this one back up with some closure. I went with the Yellow Delrin version. I have to really thank you fellow forumites who had often recommended this knife. I *love* it. This is a knife meant to do some hard work, and keep on doing it. Fit and finish is great, the backsprings almost look like a single slab of steel until you open a blade. Backsprings are fully flush closed AND open, easy and smooth open and a solid "snap" into place when open. Seriously these must be one of the best bargains in the traditional knife space. I'm going to have a add a Black sawcut Zytel version now, just because I must.

Congrats on picking a winner! The yella looks classic, and I love the pocket-friendly look of those rounded bolsters. That main clip blade looks just perfect to me. Just a bit of belly, but not too much, and the tip comes to a nice sharp point. Perfect for splinters!

Now you're gonna have ta get one in the 303 size before the yella disappears forever! lol
