Good evening all. I am a newbie here. I have a question that I stumped a former Buck Rep. with and he suggested posting it here so here goes...About 10+ years ago Buck produced a Stockman 301 that had a SERRATED sheepsfoot blade. I bought one and have never seen another. I am a member of the Buck Collectors Club so I get a new catalog, newsletters, etc. each year but nothing ever about this particular knife. Do any of you know how many were made and why they stopped making them? (I think the model # is 301 i):)
On another note: I know the Buck 110 is the ever popular model but personally I feel the design, appearance and function of the Bucklock 531 has it beat. Not only do you not have to fight the tarnishing brass bolsters but the 531 is thin enough to carry in your pocket if desired. Listen up BUCK. I think you need to take another hard look at this knife!! (just my opinion).....

Mate, Vern Taylor (retired Buck rep) sold one of these awhile back
on E-bay. Since I own one I borrowed his pic and text to use as
referance for later. Here's what he had to say about the knife........

"Description
In 1989 Buck experimented with serrations on some production
knives. It is perfectly new and the box is very good,
(the little typewritten sticker that said "serrated" has fallen off),
a nice addition to any Buck pocket knife collection. This knife
was never produced in any quantity at all; I think only samples
were made."

That is the only referance in print I've ever seen. I came by mine quite
by accident in a trade. I traded a fella for a Buck 301 (which this knife is)
wanting the Camillus contact made version. When I got home I found that
one he sent me was this model. Mine is now displayed in a collection.
So yes I'd say they are rare indeed.

Vern Taylor was the Buck rep. I posed the question to. I don't think he even remembers this knife. Anyway, thanks for the reply and info. I thought it was a rare piece and from what you said it probably is.
What seems odd to me is that our "BUCK MODERATOR" / EXPERTS couldn't or wouldn't help out on this ???????????????
