Buck 301 vs 307

Mine did come in the box Desotosky is talking about, but I had assumed they were in them from the factory (Camillus) but I can't swear to it. There were also a number of the "Winchester" Camillus/Buck 301 and 311 knives that hit Ebay around that time also in boxes and I know for a fact those were never boxed, but presented to Winchester employees in brown paper tiny envelopes. I'll admit, I am assuming they came from the Camillus closeout auction, because of the timing they hit Ebay, but I could be wrong on that.

Ok, here is the rest of the story. A bunch of 307 parts were bought by a Camillus craftsman at the factory auction, after he was out of a job. So he made them up just as he did in the factory. He came up with some boxes, I suspect a Buck inside job but won't name names, and he boxed his 307s and proceeded to sell. I decided I would defend him with the statement that I considered them NIB 307s, equal to earlier production. After all the same guy built them before and after. So, yes a NIB not sold by Buck. If you had seen some of the boxes you would understand why they were extras. Also sold on bay were parts 334 large stockmans that the same person put together, but parts were 'rougher' and many did not get shields and no boxes as they were a SMKWs sold knife. i.e: David Martin's favorite folder, Chicken's fear it's name. Here again, Buck collectors should just consider them as factory over-runs. 300Bucks

PS: BC, one of us should have gone to the factory auction, I would have bought all the extra Winchesters for sure.

I'm glad to know how the deal went down. And how many of the 307's and 334 Trappers came about. Good insider information. I would still
purchase one as a Buck. Only us Buck collectors know & are interested in the origin of these models. The rest of the folks I run into and show it to say, 'they didn't know Buck ever made the 2 blade large Trapper. And I'm thinking,--- they didn't. Tee-hee-hee. DM

I got mine I think about the time Bear Claw is speaking of. For the life of me I cant find the receipt to find from who and how much. There was rumor that these knives were made lately from leftover parts. Not sure if that's true or not. Here's the box it came in.
(Oops, just read 300's post above about spare parts-guess it's true)
