That is a great-looking knife! I have a 309 in stag as well.....much older version and love it. I was never much of a stag fan until I started collecting the 300 series.....now it is one of my favorite materials!
I'm partial to the more positive snap on the springs of the older long pull 300 series folders. I have a few long pull 309 versions. That said I have a 1990 309 with nice snappy springs and a 2003 model both close and open the same. My 2007 stag 309 also opens and closes the same as the long pulls. I don't have anything newer in a 309 than 2007 so I don't know if the 309 ever fell prey to the soft "spongy" spring feel that newer 301's have. I have a couple saved photo's of my stag 309 handy.
