Buck 470....

so got this one recently. discontinued model. 1994 model so 420hc id assume. not a lot of talk about it back when it was on production. I see when the discontinued it people were grabbing for 12 bucks I think I saw mentioned on a couple old posts.

I kinda dig the shape and size of the knife. the sheath I dont care for so much.this one came with the black box with white writing


I dont see many of these out there. seems like it wasn't a real popular model. anyone know more about these, definitely a lack of information out there that I could find here on bf or Google searches. thank you.

I have one of those with the wood handle.

Yes they did. The model 475.

The 470 Mentor has a 5 1/4 inch (140 mm) blade. Is that small? Not for me . The 475 mini Mentor (3 1/2 inch) has a small blade. I like the mini Mentor more.

View attachment 1433317 View attachment 1433318 Ok, here's what I have.. 475 made in 1997, bought in 2000 at a box sporting goods for 19.99$ . The Cordura sheath came with the knife.
I didn't like the coating so I polished it off with a dremmel tool.I also profiled the edge to a 15 deg. I feel it slices better for me.

Beware that if you use the original sheath, the rivets will fail. At least mine did.

I see them from 40-45$. That's with some cushion. Some vendors are decent.
Others think their items are high end or rare. DM

wasn't planning on it as I just don't really like the sheath. I'll find a generic to carry it or see what Buck sheath i got laying around that will fit it enough.

Well JB Mike could make you a fantastic shieth! I'm going to put both versions on my Buck bottom fishing list just to see if the handle will be comfortable. If it's similar to the 450 for 'grippyness' it might make a great kitchen Buck. As my carpal tunnel is still getting slowly worse I'm starting to hate my kitchen knives.
