I have a 99 duke and the blade steel acts different than my 110
in abetter way anybody know if it is different or amm I just crazy

The 99 catalog doesn't state what the blades are made of. The 110 is a larger and heavier knife with a clip blade where the 500 has a thinner and smaller drop-point blade. Probably, most of the difference is the smaller size 500 is easier to use in some applications and the thinner blade cuts with less effort. If it is a limited edition knife it could have a better steel in the blade.
