Buck 503 Prince Inlay Material?

Hi Sirs,

I was fishing in the beach and cought some new "fishes" for my collection. But what are the scales from the 503+ are made of? And when was the Buckarta scaled knife made? thanks a lot for anwers.

Once again I am without my records but I think the Micarta was used from the knife's inception until 1982 then the switch was made to impregnated birch from Fibron Corp.
