Buck 503's..."letter after number"

Hi,
I've got a 503, with a "T" that's 90 degrees out stamped on the tang

I've seen some offered on Ebay, that are 503 "v", and "u"

what are the "v" and the "u" versions?

those are actually symbols buck started using in 86 to mark the years of production
