Buck 560 handle finish

I've got a 560 (01 date stamp) that has a more textured finish, silver in color and the holes are all the way thru.
All the ones I've seen posted are smooth and the holes have bottoms.

Anyone familiar with this?

Well thats different. I've never seen a 560 like that before. I think you have a home Mod. But I could be wrong. I know someone on Facebook who works for Buck, Ill send him an email with this picture and see if he knows anything about it.
 
Its a 2001 date stamp. Its too uniform, it almost has a castiron/potmetal look to it, and it's the same on all the edges.
 
Here's a scan of the 2001 catalog page when it was introduced. It appears to me that yours has been modified. I've seen that type with holes in the handle, but I don't believe yours is what I've seen.

Yeah I got a response from my friend. He says that as far as he knows, Buck has never produced a model like that, but has recieved one for repair once with that mod. He is positive it is a basic skeletonized mod.
