Buck Akonua

That number doesn't jive with the numbering system, the custom shop used. The used a 900 series number.? That number could be a early number internally for the shop for that knife turned out.? Not many around that would know the answer. On the pins, I've not seen an Akouna finished out with 2 pins. A first for me. I was merely stating a 'Buck pattern' of doing that. My money is on your Akouna being out of the Buck's early Custom Shop around 82-83 with Macassar ebony slabs. We may never know. DM

I know the threads a bit old but has given me some good information on the Akonua.
The ID you have given is it's in the first of the production 71 to 81.
I was going to rework mine until I saw this post.
Now not knowing what way to processed just now.
Might be better to sell it and buy something useful for hunting with! or have a knife maker rework it.
Your thoughts and options on it.
Haven't worked out how to post a picture.

Welcome kiwi. The akouna is a nice knife. Figure out how to post a pic and someone with more knowledge than me will come along and help you out.

I would say it depends on how much you like 440C. A lot of folks like it. Me...not so much. A new Akonua in S30V can be had for 130.00. One of the best deals in the knife world IMO.
