I don`t know who made it.
It is not the fault of the seller.
BUT!! They don`t open very fast ,even when new.Mine will not open the blade all the way .It is no good!
I do have a Buck with a leaf spring that is good. The coil fired one is a POS.

Richard,

I have two of the coil fired Bucks (a 110 and a 112) and both work great. They are not as fast as my CMKT leaf spring conversions, but they're plenty fast enough. IMO the CMKT conversion is as fast or faster than anything I have, including Daltons and MTs. Neither has ever even come close to not fully openning. Fit and finish of the conversion (at least on the outside) looks fine also. Super fast openning on an auto is not necessarilly a good thing, as it tends to wear things out faster. Sounds like you got a lemon. You might consider sending it back to the dealer for replacement.

Thanks for the warning Richard. I have one of the leaf spring models and I love that knife, even had Gary Graley make me up a leather horizontal sheath (nice guy, great work). If I have my choice I always will pick leaf over coil, faster action, cool sound. Just my $.02.

When I first received the coilfired Buck it worked great.
It was several months later when it developed problems.
It was in a case in the open position and not used at all.
Really I wondered what the advantage of a coil is when it can`t be replaced.(as in the Buck model)
I may try to find a leaf spring to fit it or I may sell it to someone after I tell them about it`s problem.
I loosened the sides and lubed it and it works OK, but it is not a well thought out design.
Good luck with yours,Mark and I hope you don`t run into the same problem.
LD if I were you I would stay away from coil sprung Bucks.
Thanks to both of you for your replys.
