Buck Auto's ?????????

I have been seeing buck auto's for sale recently and am interested in purchasing one. I am not familiar with them but see that there are 110 and 120 (which I believe are the smaller ones) with buttons and panels to activate the blade. What are all of the different configurations available and what are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Which ones are the most robust and the better one to purchase. Are they available for sale from dealers or must I watch for one or advertise for one on this board?

Thanks
Pat

Hi Pat,
It's Buck 110 and 112, the 112 being smaller. The best one's are made by Cumberland Mtn Knife and Tool, though not sure if they're doing it anymore. Has been some conflicting reports that the guy who did them retired, but lately heard someone else would do them. But they show up almost everyday on the for sale forum either here or at Knifeforums. Keep in mind that these are not from Buck and are not covered by Buck's warranty. Buck has nothing to do with these due to legal and other ramifications. They buy the Buck's from Buck and convert them. The early ones had a rectangular button but the newer ones have round buttons. There are some dealers that have them in stock. Take a look on the for sale/dealers forum. Hope this helps.

Which on is better for using, the rectangular button or the round button?

Thanks for your response and information on them. I have seen several for sale but they all seem to be alittle bit different.

I recently purchased a couple of Buck 110 auto's - each from different dealers - each converted in different shops.

Both have the eliptical button, but the one converted by Cumberland Mountain is finished better, and seems to open with more authority.

Rick Condor is the guy behind Cumberland's Buck autos. They also make Case autos and these will be out soon. His dad died last year and that was when things slowed down a bit there.

Paragon is now converting them as well but the Cumberland version is better.

The round button is no longer made. The current version is better IMHO.
