Buck bolster pins showing

I was not defending anything but the want for knowledge. My new motto is "Don't ask unless you really want to know" Probably everyone elses will be "Don't say anything about Bucks or Craig will conduct another seminar."

As in all things, hopefully it will really fall somewhere in the middle.

300Bucks/Craig H.

Craig, I hope you don't stop sharing your knowledge with us. I had always thought the visible pins on the Bucks were indicative of some kind of shortcoming on their part. It never bothered me too much, 'cause they seem to be built like tanks, but now that I know the reason I'll view them as a badges of honor!

Final word, maybe....no clapping......300Bucks/ch
Buck camillus section. Fairly common look inside, could be any number of different knives. Brass liners, rivets swelled at ends
to grab bolster. Bolsters attached to liners. Back thick liner there to increase width of well so two crinked blades can
fit into it. Remember liner will be cut-out away from bolsters

Buck made knife section. No brass. Nice an tight. Intergal liner/bolster. Three springs, straight blades.

This is a beautiful reference.

That top pic shows exactly how my 307 is put together. I'm going to officially subscribe to this thread, and tuck it neatly away in my Reference folder.

Very good! Thanks a bunch (and yes, I am clapping :p).

The 301 that I bought in the late '70s had a steel pivot that was very obvious. It didn't bother me a bit.

Is this the construction of a new 301 or 303 I I by one today. This realy looks as a solid construction.
I have more and more been thinking of geting a Buck stockman. Theese things is expensive here in sweden. Aprox 700 skr that is around 100 dollars, quite expensive for a simple knife with plastic/delrin scales and 420 hc steel. But stainless steel of good heat treatment but rather simpe steel and all metall stainless and syntetic scales makes for a good user in less than perfect conditions, possible to fieldsharpen. People here talks about the 420 hc as more than ekualent to case cv that is a steel I realy like. The talk about being built like a tank and the picture above talks its language about something/ a tool that will last me a user life. We will see if I open my letherwallet for it. Most times nowadays I dont by anything as I aim new items to be better than the posessions I already have.
