Buck Brahma

Im positive Buck will replace it under warranty but now you know not to do that. I started pounding 119's through Mule deer sternums and pelvises 25yrs ago. Ive broken 6 to date. Bucks 58rc 420hc is a bit brittle behind the edge but holds a fabulous working edge!

I think the guys who baton with knives say to use a scandi grind. The hollow grind is a bit weak in the edge area and designed for other jobs.

When I turned 12, over 50 some years ago, me mam an pap bought me a Western Cutlery Boy Scout Knife. It served me well while in the scouts and even after that when I entered the military. As I recall, it had a blade slightly over 4 inches long but did everything I found a use for. Somewhere along the line it sprouted feet and went for a walk never to return. Went thru several other blades but fell for a Randall model 14 with a 7.5 inch blade. Much longer and heavier than that old western, but got used well and borrowed often and unlike the other, always found it's way home. I retired it some years back and keep it tucked away in hopes of passing it on to one of my grandsons.I now edc a swiss army knife and a small multitool. Recently spotted the brahma online and it caught my attention, so anted up and just got one. Reminds me of the USMC fighting knife/utility but with a shorter blade and hilt. Has a nice heft and looks like it can get the job done. I also haul a GB small forest axe to do most of my choppin' an camp set up. Will be putting it to the test next fall during elk season, also will tote it with me when spring bear and streams open for trout. Won't use it for trout as I have an old rapala folder filet knife for that. Hope not to see the elephant afore next fall and will lay down some letters saying how the brahma does.

James,

When you are battoning with your Brahma, is the pommel nut backing off on you causing play in the handle? I love the knife, but I find myself using it less and less for anything other than slicing due to always having to tighten up that damn nut. It got to the point I was keeping a small allen key in my pack just for sticking through the hole of the pommel nut for when I inevitably had to tighten it. Curious if you or any other Brahma owners have had the same experience.

Just got mine today. Love it

Locktite!

The loctite will be liberally applied once the new guard and pommel come in from the machine shop. I'm having ones made to match the profile of the handle and overhang it ~1mm. Was just going to have the ones that came with it milled down, but I decided I liked the idea of being able to return it to stock if I so desire. Don't know when I will be getting them, as it was a hand shake and a case of beer kind of arrangement, but I will post up some pics when it comes in.
