Buck Brahma

IMO it looks good.
Looks like sort of a 119 with washers for a handle.
Cant go wrong with a 119.
Ive been tempted by the Brahma.
Go for it (makes a nice change from the ubiquitous Ka-Bars).

I wouldn't but if you like it, get one. If I was in the market for that style knife I would get the good old Ka-bar.

The 119 is a good slicer and general camp knife with it's hollow grind. The KBar has a convex grind and that thicker grind may take malleting better.? Buck recently offered it's 119 with 5160 steel for those who prefer a non-stainless. DM

Lol (poor guy, whats he to think. We might need more opinions:D)

And if it were me I would spend more and get a knife better than both of them

But if the design and steel is what will quench his needs, by all means....

Sure, which one for example?

Yeah, to each his own and all that:thumbup:

There are of course interesting new steels out there, but I must admit, that Im a sucker for the design of the venerable 119 and its ilk.

Let's see...Esee 6, RMD, Bravo 2. I would take many other both smaller and larger knives over the type of knives in the OPs genera....Esee 3 or 4, Bravo 1, TGLB, Sog Seal Pup Elite PE, Tech Bowie, Gov-Tac, Seal Team, Seal 2000. Hell maybe even an Esee 5. I'd certainly rather have a Junglas. Why do you ask?

This is Buck's new take on the classic 119, and I give it a thumbs up. I'll bet they end up selling a bunch of them. With the new handle configuration I suspect the grip will be better in wet environments.

I favor the new look coupled with a refreshing handle style and hope the sheath is as good as it should be for this blade. You can bet your bottom dollar that the Brahma will be a good seller for Buck in 2016.

Because its a knife forum and Im interested in seeing, if You'd suggest some interesting knives.

Its not that I dont care for your suggestions - I like the majority of the knives you mentioned and have bought several of them.

That being said, you suggest ESEE. I have bought several ESEE and like the knives a great deal, but they dont have much in common with the Brahma in the looks/style department, though ESEE are great rugged user knives, which I'd gladly recommend to others.

Maybe the OP is after a look and not a knife for a specific rugged use though. Maybe we should have asked him that though:)

Considering getting a Buck Brahma, any opinions?
What is your intended use for the knife - wall hanger, fondling while you watch 'The Sands of Iwo Jima,' light weight wood working, hard core use, the only implement for being dropped wearing ony a loincloth and a knife over a jungle in South America (in that case an ESEE:D)?

The Brahma looks like a beautiful knife. I would need to try one in person to ensure that the handle worked for me. Otherwise, why not? Looks very functional, doesn't break the bank, and it is a Buck

The OP did give very little details on why he was considering this knife. You are right, we should have asked more questions. I gave my opinion on the knife.

I only suggested other knives after I was asked to do so. They are not the style knives like what the OP was asking for. That is fine. If I was in the mood for that type of knife it would be the KaBar for the reasons I listed.

I would still be interested if some one post their experience with this knife. I'd spend a bit more and get somthing else. That said, if this is what the OP wants he should get it and let us know how it is :)

I'll take the Brahma.

The Brahma seems fine for what it is, but over the TGLB... come, come now... let's not get carried away...

I have a new Brahma and am Well-Pleased, Grip is better than standard 119, Improved pomel and guard....prefer the leather 119 sheath but the New sheath is made Well.
Once you work/rub off the excess blade coating you have a Nice Even finish, overall I find it quite an Improvment over standard version....Dave

And those were good suggestions. The OP didnt supply us with much info. Maybe alternatives can open his eyes to other knives, which would suit his need better........, in case he is not totally sure, that its indeed the Brahma, that he wants.

Again, it depends on what the OP wants to use a blade for.

Did anyone mention economy? The knives crabby posted run 2-3 times what the Buck Brahma runs in order to get those features. Some guys don't mind paying that to have a knife exactly the way they want it. DM
