Look at the picture and tell me if you think this is a real buck buckmaster knife, the lady that sold it in the add did not name any but one of the knives, i got this whole lot for about $56. I believe she didnt know what she had?? Please tell me after you look what you think, real or not (even the compass looks to match)

I hope it's real, for your sake. I saw the same lot, but didn't know for sure and chose not to take a gamble. I reckon you'd have outbid me anyways.

I know what you mean, it was on ebay and i compared it to real ones side by side but since the pic is not that good i cannot be sure, i only found it with one hour left so i didnt figure the seller could respond. The compass was also key to me thinking it was real. Oh well there is a buckmaster compass selling on ebay right now just short of $20. If we knew for sure and it was then neither of us would probably have gotten it. Congrats to you too for your keen eye !!!!!!

Could you post a link to the auction, it's Ok since it's over. I seem to remember looking at that one and something made me stop and not bid, but I don't remember what it was.

I enlarged and lightened up the picture, but still can't see any real detail. Perhaps an expert in these knives can see a little better than in the original photo and can see some tell tale sign.

From the angle and the not so distinct pic,it looks genuine.I would'nt bet my life on it though.

"Two tent stakes" indicates a person who had no clue what they had.

Maybe great bargains DO still exist.

:)

I have no idea how common copies of this were, but I'd give it a fairly good chance of being the real thing.

I don't know if it's a real one but seeing sellers other items, there is none.To me that's a plus on the odds of it being real.

Good Luck! It would be a great score if it was. Most of the Buckmaster knock offs I've seen were black and did'nt have the anchor pins and came with cheap nylon sheaths.

firstly, the accompanying knives in the photo aren't very promising indicators.
ok, maybe they aren't from an individuals collection.
still, the "184" looks awfully new and pristine as with the rest of the materials in that shot.
but what's confusing is the bright reflective sheen on the "184";
i would think that a bead or glass blasted finish, wouldn't be throwing such a bright and shiny flash reflection...
or it's an original which has since been reworked.
so where did that "Buck" compass pouch go, seeing that everything's so new?
don't suppose the owner had it round his neck for all that time?

My gamble is that on ebay sometimes people dont know what they have, sometimes I win and sometimes I loose , I will respond back when it comes in and let you all know if its real or fake. In any case I can probably resell all and get most of the money back if its not. Thanks for your help !!!!

Wow, you found a silver fake, thanks for working on this, I will let you know what it is when it comes in. Thanks again

I hope it is the real deal. Not to dash any dreams, but I did find one knock-off that isn't black.

I wish people would learn to take better pictures and give better descriptions. Of course this could be all part of their way of selling. Fortunately there is a 7 day money back on it if it's just a POS.

Gosh, I bet that this is the knife, the good thing if it is they have it priced just under $50, bummer I bet this is it. In any event you do good work, Thanks, maybe I can sell the whole lot of knives individually and get my money back.

There's ALWAYS a return option, even if the seller claims there isn't.

Even if it's not the real thing, you have to take a gamble once in a while.

Calculated risks.

:)

I have bought and sold at least 15-20 Buck 184 knives. I buy them and re-condition them for re-sale.It is hard to tell by the photo but the guard on the knife looks like it is not thick enough to be a real Buck 184. That is usually the giveaway if it is real or not.Even if it is a copy for what you paid you did good.

Yes the photo is really tuff to tell but couldnt pass up the chance, Ive emailed the seller to ask if they can tell me if there is any wording on the tang or any where to indicate brand or origin. Waiting now for feedback.
In any event Im commited and really wont return as the seller never made any claims as to what brand it was. Thanks for your feedback, Its greatly appreciated. I always get good advice here.:D
