Buck Carving Pumpkins

Now, into the zipp-loc bag and into my lunch box. These turned out real tasty. Just toasted right. A little crispy, then soft. I sprinkled, red chile powder, fine ground black pepper and salt on them. Then a spray of olive oil. Toast them 3 mins. and stir. A little more if needed. A great snack while driving. Super healthy & easy snack. If you purchase these in grocery stores they run 6.99/ lb.. By saving them I just recouped the cost of my pumpkins. The meat and decoration is now free. DM

The smaller pumpkin I carved. Leesa used her 1st generation Buck-lite to carve her's. We both out lined our cuts and then went
at it. You can take off most of the lines with the cuts. We then used hand sanitizer to get more of the lines removed. It was fun. DM

Those look delicjous. Nice job. I wash then put the spices on before they dry. Seems to help the spices stick. Lately the pumpkin seeds I get are too small to cook. Trader Joe's has ones that are the size of nickles!

I used both knives while carving, the 426 and 334. I did not notice much difference in the manner they cut or the way they felt
in the hand. Either was a performer and pleasant to use. I will add that the basket weave lanyard my youngest girl tied on my 426 helps. This lanyard works like a handle extension. It is stiff enough to give support while reaching down inside a cavity like
the pumpkin and offer good knife control, even with just 2 fingers on the knife and 2 on the lanyard. This is a real handy feature
to have. It may not be for everyone but its worth trying, just to see. DM

Yes, one needs a fully, vine matured pumpkin to have decent seeds. My typing was a little out of exact order. I should have said:
after drying, then I place them on the cookie sheet and spray olive oil on. Then sprinkle on the spices. This helps to hold it on
even during stirring. Glad to see you enjoy this season with pumpkin seeds. Because in 2 weeks it's over and you won't see them
for another year. DM

Are the blades on the 334 thinner than the 426 or are they about the same?

I need to go buy a pumpkin :)

On my Workman 426 vs the 334 they are close to the same thinness. Here we have road side vendors that haul pumpkins in on a flat-bed trailer and sell them by the size of each. I got some large pumpkins for under $4. These farmers usually have some that
got mashed during transit. I'll ask them for those and feed them to our chickens. At least they don't go to waste and the eggs come out with a orange shell. not. DM

HA! orange shell, now that's funny David. If that were true, I would run out and buy some chickens right now!!!

Seriously, you post some great advice here. I enjoy the treats you make and the money you save. You waste almost nothing in the process! Thanks David.
