Got the Buckmaster from my parents for my 21st bday. Have kept it pristine as it is extremely special and was one of my childhood Grail Knives. Was fortunate to pick up a beater 184 at a gunshow for 70 bucks that has allowed me to have one to use and take camping etc......lots of memories in this thread

Man, theres a boatload of offereings in that mag I dont have and would like to. How about the wood on the 110s and 112-those were pick of the litter pics:thumbup:

I have the "Dealer Catalog" of 1985 and that year is stamped on it, the same front photo . Stelth, the back cover shows your catalog, its the "Consumer Catalog" . Nice pictures guys, thanks . DM

Stelth, the tp# at the bottom of the back page will tell you the dsate of the catalog, I posted one a month ago and there was a discussion about the TP # and how it relates to the catalog date. check it out and try to break the code. Thankx for the pics

WOW...talk about memories...I was challenged by Jim Bloom, our then VP marketing and sales, to put together the whittling kit. I was New Products Manager at the time. Was in the middle of the BuckMaster as well.

Our initial forecast for the 184 was 20,000 and we ended up selling upwards of 53,000 pieces...timing with the Firstblood movies was accidental and perfect.

We learned a lot about heat treating and tang annealing (initial knives had a real problem because the threaded portion of the blade was so compromised that the pressure of the locking nut which is what held the blade and handle together would break, sometimes while just sitting on the shelf..."PING"....all that learning went into the heat treat processes for the bayonets...and Paul Bos was in the middle of that too.

Mr. Buck, many thanks to you and your family for the memories. The Buck products I bought in the 80's are still very useful and are going strong today but are also a touchstone to the past.
