BUCK COLLECTORS at the LAS CRUCES KNIFE and GUN SHOW

Thank you Larry. I really think the weightier credit goes to Craig & Pat as they drove 1,000 miles (round trip) out of their way to encourage Buck collectors in my area at this show by setting up his display. So many just stood and gaulked in amazement at such a well organized display that they missed the models. Even though Craig is very dry and reserved I tried to loosen him up some. While he in-turn had fun with that on me. Leesa also came and spent some time with us and displayed some of her Scrimshaw items. All-in-all it was nothing short of a grand and wonderful experience that I shall always treasure.
His depth of knowledge in 300's is astounding and not short in Bird hunting either. Thank you for a fine time. DM

David,
Don't tell him this but Craig is a top drawer individual. You should see how he steps up and quietly, subtlely gets things done at club events and shows. Pat has trained him quite well!

Here is photo of David Martin showing a prospective BCCI member and Buck knife owner the new BCCI newsletter, note the new Buck Knife catalog he had just shown him. I bet we talked to a dozen folks who had small collections of Buck Knives and had no idea people collected them and there was a club to join to help do so. I know we handed out 20+ newsletters to promote joining club. We pointed out how to join before sending them on there way. Tom Smith, BCCI member, hung out with us on and off all afternoon Sat. The concession BBQ sandwiches were pretty good also.

Sorry but thats all my show photos, Sat was so crowded I didn't get chance to walk around. Sunday I managed one quick round. By David giving me his paid in advance table he was able to walk around more than ever before. It was the best small knife and gun show I have ever attended. Of course the world famous Wannamacher gun show in Tulsa is much larger, but I think the prices were better for the buyer here. For anyone close enough to spend a weekend and go to the next show, my wife had a great day Sat. going to the farmers market. I have a big package of chili powder for my future deer chili.....and two new cactus's for our patio collection. (In the house windows in winter)

Here are a couple of travel back home photos for you guys that like such things. First one is Guadalupe Mtns Nat. Park, highest point in TX.

Photo of Butterfield stage stop, New Orleans to San Fran. Man that must have been some trip....

Then went on down the road east a short piece to Carlsbad Caverns Natl. Park. My photo using camera balanced on handrail along path.

You have to go to El Paso, TX to visit the parks on way back east. Out in middle of nowhere is Border Patrol stop that xrays and bomb sniffs your vehicle. The agent asked me what my country of orgin was. I said Oklahoma, he said "Is that a country." I say, Yes it is if you are a Sooner Football fan, the Sooner Nation. They all laughed and said 'Go on, get out of here".

Thanks Craig for the time and display efforts. I seem to recall you having to walk the floor with indigestion last time you cooked up a pot of chili. Glad you guys had a good time and made it home safe. With Craig's help at the show I was able to shop more than normal and was luckly enough to procure a vintage straight razor. An A.F.Bannister made during 1885-1915.
I'll get it in shape and start shaving with it. I enjoy bringing a 100yr. old razor to life. DM

Tony and all,

David paid in advance $125 for a table but only put out a half dozen of his wife's bolo tie scrimshaw works, I went there knowing that he did and intended to make it right. We wrestled a little over it but I got the check at the Mexican food resturant with a threat to the waitress. I have another ploy to even things up also. This show is sponsored by local Lions club and tables cost Bucks, no freebies. It was a good show, they even have a lunch cart come around in the middle of the day selling food so vendors don't have to leave their tables. The BBQ sand was good, David said so was Burrito. Both he and I had the intent to promote the Buck Collectors Club and we both plan to continue to do so in our own areas. I am going to try to get a table at the AG Russell knife show in July, in Rogers, AR anyone want to put up a Buck display and support BCCI let me know. After all I made a PVC sign holder I need to use it........300Bucks

"Wrestled over it." I thought it was more like strong armed into it. This just didn't set right with a Colonel's daughter as it was not proper etiquette. It took some doing but I was able to smooth it out with her later.
Thinking back it wasn't so bad. Break a leg at the Arkansas show. DM
