Buck Crosslocks

Take one apart and look at it. I thought that the spine was some type of black metal when it first failed. When I took it apart I found to my amazement that it was plastic. I called Buck and asked if they made a mistake. They said no, but they would send me a new one. I told them that I did not want another one with a plastic spine. So I fixed it myself.

I do believe you Soleil...I just didn't know that.

Don't have one to take apart, and now, knowing this, may never will.

Sorry, didn't mean to make it sound like you didn't believe me. I just figured out what IRL meant.:o

This is probably why all the new crosslocks have metal frames and the plastic are no more! Try out a new one!! :)

I am glad to hear that Buck did the right thing with the Crosslock design. IIRC mine is about 10 years old. I will try to get my hands on a newer model to check it out. Thanks for the info.!!

Let us know how you like the new one!
If you were to send in the old plastic one, I would think a new metal handled one would be sent to you? They replace them with the equivalent if that style is no longer made I believe...
I havent had any problems with my older plastic ones but I like the newer crosslocks better :D
Hope I helped a tad :D
