Buck CSAR TOPS

Glad to hear about the liner lock, that was my one concern about ordering one, sometimes Buck's liner locks have been a little thin.

Hope you get a nice light grey colored scale 301 to cut stuff with, along with that polished pry bar you ordered ...

Who me? You know full well they didn't make a 301 in the Workman gray, so that was just mean!!! :(

Well Craig its close to black in color. Nice knife though. I haven't played with it yet. I'm interested in putting it to some cutting duty to see if I like the grind better than the old Camillus pattern's FFG. F&F is very good. Snap is a little weak but not to bad. Nice knife as far as I can tell which just a quick look. g

But which pocket do you carry it in.....??? You know they don't make jeans like they use to.....300

Despite having a clip, it comes with a sheath like the Alpha.
I'm going down to Gun Shop and will horizontal carry it in its sheath. g

Well I'm going out on a limb and say Plum don't fill his camo out quite the same way.

Back to the Czar...I'm going to do a photo layout for everybody to look at. I'll do that in the morning with some good light. The knife is very well built. Lock up is perferct and the liner lock is very very strong. Almost like a framelock. In fact, it wouldn't be a surprise to me if someone said it was stronger. The handles are very nice...I like them. The texture is quite grippy but not rough. Blade opens up smooth as silk and locks up like a bank vault with the liner lock no more than 25% over. The dual thumb studs are comfortable and functional. I'm not sure what the clip's made out of but its tough! The jimping on the top of the blade is functional without being rough on your thumb.

The blade is thick and heavy duty and I find the modified tanto point appealing. I'm not exactly sure what I'll do with this thing but I do like it.

For all ya'all that like the Alpha Folder, you will like this knife.

Weakness: It's heavy and the liner is so strong that the blade is off center when closed. Neither of these issue is a bother to me. As long as the blade opens and closes smoothly I'm OK with a little off-centerness.

This is a very solid effort by Buck and Tops. Side note: if you liked the Strider 880, you'll absolutely love this knife as it has a kindred soul.

Wondered if you were still going to do the photo layout? Anyone else got one of these? For those who've had one for a while now how is it working for you?

Yeah, I jumped on the thing as soon as they were available. Now that I have it, being more of a traditional kind of guy, I don't know why I did. But that's just me.

It seems to be a very well engineered and well made piece. Weighs alot and is big. It reminds me of the B-52's nickname, B.U.F.F. I really don't know what it's intended use is, I know for me it has none other than as a piece just to put in my collection and maybe for trading material later. I rarely have the need for anything to pierce body armor or the sheetmetal of a car, etc., so it's just a conversation piece for me.

You need to start selling some knives you got that you don't like so much once you got 'em. You're good with posting pictures. Your a Gold Member already. Its kind of an aggravation to box 'em up and go to the post office but think of all the money for NEW CROME H.D. PARTS!!!!!

Didn't want to start a new thread when I could resurrect this one.

For those of you who have this knife, how do you like it? Seeing as it seems to be designed as a hard use folder, has anyone done so? What results have you had with it?

I really like the overall design of this knife, but I'm trying to limit my knife purchases this year so my wife doesn't kill me.

Any information or reviews of this knife would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone know if there are plans for other blade profiles? If this was available in a spear point I'd already have one.
