Buck does 420 OK, don't they?

Better yet; get on Buck's Custom Shoppe and have them make you one to your specs with the BG42 blade. You'll be glad you did. :)
Exactly right.
They used 425M on the BuckMaster, not sure about 110's.

That's a good point. I recently had a Buck 560 (titanium handled 110) re-bladed with BG-42. Buck charged only $35, which included the cost of the BG-42 blade, the labor involved in swapping it, and return shipping. The turnaround time in my case was less than 2 weeks.

You send it to Buck's new Idaho address Atten: Joe Houser.

I'd also add that if you really want a 110 in 440C there's still plenty of them out there. I recently got a couple of good, solid "user" 2-dots (70s vintage) 110s on ebay for $13 and change @. Mint in box 2-dots go for only about $50-55 or less on ebay.

I like their 420hc. It's not a super steel but it is a good dependable using steel. It's tuff, takes a razor edge easily and holds it fairly well.

Well, I've never owned a Bowie style and that Buck looked to be a very good buy as they apparently are limited to 100 of each handle material. The handles are either Elk, Buff horn, or Ironwood. I liked the elk. That one is NOT available at many places.

It may end up a "safe queen" but I would still like a decent steel in the event that I play with it a bit. Certainly not an EDC. I still have my old 1960's 110 and it HOLDS AN EDGE. If you can get one on. The Sharpmaker has made it easy. Freehand took a lot of time. I had a buddy who always brought his over for me to sharpen back in hand stone days. It would take an edge but it took work. Held it good though.

:)

I've got a Stockman, Cadet and a Diamondback, all of which are 420HC, and they work fine. I like the higher end steels, but for what they're used for, they work fine.
