Just recently got a new 110 drop point from buck knives online and sent the first one back because the lock bar was recessed below the scales by the blade. The replacement wasn’t much better. Can this be fixed? Sorry I cannot figure out how to download pics on this site.

Could just need cleaned, even if new. Doesn't take much residue to throw it off. Otherwise, it has to be ground down.

Sorry, trying to picture the issue you’re describing but without a photo I’m drawing a blank. Is the issue cosmetic or is it causing any issue with the function of the knife in some way?

Got to be careful grinding as it could go the other way when the blade is open.

Unless there is blade play ,why send it back?ive got some with a bit higher ok bar, lock up is solid and no blade play, doesn't bother me a bit.what issues are you having?

It has blade blade slightly. It’s more cosmetic and I’m just being picky I guess. A lot of blade looseness when closed. Could I put it in a vise and tighten it?

I don't reccommend the vice method to anyone, unless you have experience doing that,it's a quick way to ruin your knife.Best to box it up and send it into Buck Knives with a note of what your concerns are, they will, fix it no problem.

Madeinusa, welcome to the Buck forum. Recessed = it's seated too low. That couldn't be caused by lint, ect.. If the lock bar is a 1/16" low when in the locked position, I would not be concerned. But I'm not nit- picky. A deep seated lock bar is a sound lock-up. Cosmetic alignment but still mechanically sound.
If it seats 1/8" low in the locked open position then return it to Buck. Blade wobble is a easy fix as well, if you've done this before. If not send it to: Buck Knives

I'm certainly no expert but I've torn apart my share of Buck knives. Lock Bar being level works both ways, opened and closed.

I think I'm going to send it back again and spend an extra 10.00 so now were up to 20.00 out of pocket to fix it for shipping. I wish someone would do a youtube video on how to tighten the blade play. Thank you for your help though.

It is seated low for sure and I cleaned all the gunk out of it.

what would happen if you put it in a vice and tightened it? Would the pin push through? If so can it be fixed?

made, I doubt the head of the blade pivot pin would become proud after a squeeze in a vise. Pad the jaws and gently try it. About the worst that could happen is it becomes snug to open. Then just work it a lot with oil until it suits you. DM

The knife spine is offset from the handle when the knife is closed, aligning only after the knife is opened. Maybe that would have been a better description on my part but yours was much better. I appreciate your feedback. I am really into the 110 blades and I love all it's utility. I took a tour of the Buck plant a few years ago and fell in love with the product.

I would call warranty department first and talk to them.

My little experience with that is that it's only a temporary fix.
