I am trying to do the free membership offer. I called the Buck store and held for 75 minutes. I went from 2 callers ahead of me to next caller but never got any further. I guess I will try them again Saturday morning.
...As great as their knives are..I find it hard to believe that they have so many people buying or complaining about them that they have to keep you on "HOLD" for 75 minutes...Not as bad ( nor as DUMB )as me tho...Yesterday I spent 90 minutes on "Hold" to finally get cut off and so far today I've been "the next caller" for over an hour...I'm thinking that no knife is worth being treated this way...JMHO...

:thumbdn: ...That's it...After 85 minutes on "HOLD" TODAY...with being the "NEXT CALLER" for 70 of those minutes with no contact with Buck...I will NOT have the BCCI 531...Not worth being treated like that to me... :thumbdn:

Darryl,
Perhaps you can email Joe and he can advise you the best time to call the store and not have to wait on hold for so long. I can tell you that there is normally only one person that works in there and when I was there they were very busy. The folks from the tours would come in and would all want knives. Also, the tours originated and ended in the store.
Mike

FWIW, I left a message with the Buck Store on Thursday after Mike posted the info. Had to run errands for a couple of hours and expected a message waiting when I got back...NOTHING...and still NOTHING.

I'm with you DarrylS I'm no longer interested.

Sure not what I expected:(. Preston

...If being the "next caller" means that you are "next" in line to speak to a representative of a company...then that would mean to me that the time spent waiting was used by that company to speak to the person who was currently looking for product or information. I can not and will not believe that Buck takes an HOUR to discuss a purchase with anybody. I will always love Buck knives. I will always despise poor communications with any company and will not put myself in a position to be used like that again with any company whether it be Buck or my local satellite sevice. They obviously did NOT want to sell ME anything...I'll buy from the folks in the forum when they have something I want available. Communications like I've just experienced will forever keep my hand from picking up a phone to try to talk to Buck...

Sunday I called back again. I held for 40 minutes the whole time with one caller ahead of me. I figured if I ever moved to next caller it would mean the guy in front of me got tired and hung up. I called again Monday. There was one caller ahead of me. After a 30 minute hold and never moving up to being then next caller someone answered and I completed the transaction. The lady who answered was very nice and handled the transaction very quickly. She apologized several times for the delays I had experienced. If I didn't have a speaker phone I would never have held that long. I will let you know if the knife was worth it.

Frank,
Did you gain any insight as to what the best time to call would be? Did she say why the wait time is so long? Inquiring minds want to know.
Mike

does buck have stock a person can buy ?:D :D if they are selling that many maybe thats the stuff to get maybe after the 112 they could sell a few shares for next fundraiser

No I didn't. She didn't address the hold time other than to apologize. I also had left 2 voice mail messages with no reply from Buck. I do like your idea of the possibility of Joe giving some direction to those trying to take advantage of the offer.

I don't have the luxury of a speaker phone at home and to be placed on hold at work for that long would be a preposterous for me to do. "Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice...shame on me...

Frank,
If you can't get through again, send me an email and I will get it done ok? Sorry for the phone nightmare. That scenario pops up from time to time and is VERY annoying.
Take care,

Joe, I got through and completed my transaction. Seems DarrylS and pjspr (Preston) were not successful in getting through. Thanks for the response. Frank

Glad you had a good time Mike! It was nice to meet you and your wife. I enjoyed showing you around the plant.
Anytime anyone else shows up, and I am not out playing hooky chasing elk around, I would be happy to extend the same treatment. We call this the DEE LUX tour!
FYI, the free membership offer is good while it lasts.

Howdy Joe,
look I jest wanted to let you know I called your factory's
phone number today and felt I jest had to say
wow:thumbup: -
"Thanks so much!!!"
On calling this morning I spoke with 3 lovely ladies named of Karen, Sarah & Ena !!!! talk of being treated like a VIP on the phone, I sure felt like one!!! they even told me your nick name you have there! {he he, i wont tell either but it was a great reference to your hat you ware as historian and taking care of the museum... man ...;) what great representatives and so personable}
things jest went so smooth : Karen took the information for the scout knives for my brothers boys and transefered me to the store for to ask a question there and Sarah and Erna took the rest of the order [I ordered one of the few remaining life time memberships and club knife packages remaining] and before i even got the billing info completed - Karen had walked in the store, she was personally taking care of the scout knife order and they got the rest of the information from Karen's Hand Written Order Forum!
wow- talk about service you would have thought you or Chuck had told then that i was calling this morning as the store opens and to take care of me!
and this my first time calling Buck...

they even took my home phone number and were going to call me back with information on some of the other store specials they may have left!!! :D
ugh really - did you or chuck tell them i was going to call ? i dont know how you would have known either....
i mean i did have to spell my name but other wise...
wow what service ... felt like something special from years ago ... jest blew me away...

howdy buck man sure here is what i learned today at the store:
on worenty work- per phone menu informatin- it is to the orgional buyer... humm so the ebayers saying to send in a broke one they are selling is a flase hood they are saying to sell their broke knives they got for a dime...

well on the scout knives i ordered two and will need to order another two not long from now, they are for eagle scout award only!
they are All WAYS engraved with the name of the scout , troup mumber and date of award of eagle rank.
they are a buck 500 with wood scales only and come with a leather sheath. Chuck ordered more made after they ran out of the 500 for that reason. i got the feeling that they are made on order for one but that was only my impresson. i will not see the knives tell the boys get them as they are being sent to the boys directly. if you have a eagle scout you can order one at some less then retail and the engraveing is free.
note i did get an inside tip that a small number of a new issue of the buck 500 only in a Limited Edition and in Stag will be avabile soon but that was on the QT so dont tell any one OK? ;)
and i have not heard back yet as wife on phone with ACS later...

thanks for the update dave , thats kinda what i thought about the scout knife that it might be a new one , no i dont have anything to do with the scouts but its nice to hear that buck gives them so much support , and a 500 !!! man those little buggers should be pleased and i hope they realize what a beauty they are i realy like the 500 series iits a perfect pocket size , and ok i wont tell anyone but the 500 le souds good i have a 92 and2 02's so i guess its time for an update lol thanks for the update

Thanks for the info on the scout knife. I have a very good friend whose son will be an eagle scout soon:thumbup: :D . When the date is firmed up I'll be ordering one for him.

Dave, you and your wife are in my thoughts and prayers. Preston
