Buck factory work?

Fellows, all I can add is "I have enjoyed the thread, the investigation, the comments, the findings" I think there is a TV show here...... 'Knife Detectives'

Another Bash Dani: The Plumber's knife is very Bash Dani looking......here's a 110.

Oh......and with the prices they charge.......I'd say the Plumber got a heckuva deal.

That style, BTW, is calle "Navajo Style," There's a lot of Navajos and non-Navajos and even some palefaces who can do it.

;)

Wild Horse usually works the bolsters and has a little different style.

I found one more Navajo Style like the Plumber's on e-Bay (coming from an Australian seller, of all things). If you just search the custom 110s you'll find it.

It's almost identical to the Bash Dani above.

I'd say the Plumber's new knife is probably a Bash Dani or a good copy of a Bash Dani design.

I like it better the more that I look at it.

Here's the e-mail I just received from Joe.

"Dave,

I don’t remember that knife at all but…I am asking around to see if our specials department has it listed. I know the seller and don’t think he would mislead so I want to look into this one.I’ll let you know what I find out.

Man this is a real (CLIFF HANGER)! Joe Houser really goes that extra mile!:)

The Pemberton's at Bash Dani could probably tell you if they did the work on that knife for that distributor.

Just give them a call. It sure looks like their work. If it's not their work, they might very well give the detective a lead.

:)

Looks like a Brian Yellowhorse knife to me. A similar knife was done for Buck by Brian and sold to Cabelas in 2003 (Cat# 9568, 110-BY). The file work on the blade suggests that this is an aftermarket knife as well. I don't recall any Yellowhorse knife sold through Buck with filework on the blade but I am not an expert in this area and my memory is not what it should be.

How often do you see a Yellowhorse with plain bolsters?

The knife in question lacks the typical gaudiness of the Yellowhorse stuff.

It's much more simple and elegant in style.

Well, I got the knife today and I'm very pleased with it. I haven't a clue who did the work, but whoever did it is a craftsman. The work rivals that of the Yellowhorse knives I have and is superior to the Wildhorse and a couple others. I really like the swell in the scales, it adds something special to the overall look and feel of the knife. The filework is also very nicely done.

It was money well spent.

Now why didn't I think of that?;)

I'll have to do that tomorrow. I picked up the mail on my way to town and didn't get back in time for picture taking.

Thanks Dave,

I'll have something to look forward to when I get off work tomorrow!
