Buck Fever! (Traditionals)

Buck 110 build out in 154CM

Nice to see a Buck thread over here in Traditionals. Let me throw out a couple of unusual photos for your enjoyment. 300Bucks

The very first Buck made folder. Post WW2. Lifeboat knives were bought on surplus and the blades replaced with hand forged from worn out file blades.
Likely less than 350 ever made, but count on spending close to 1 K on a open market sale. Maybe you can be lucky and find one in a garage sale. These are from the San Diego, CA knife shed days.

Everything was not sawcut black. Here is line up of some NON-Black Delrin folders. From late 89"s and early 90's. Model 303's. Usually offered in their catalog only two or three years. Most are found with only one or two years of date stamps.

Here is a Model 301 1988 Stockman, special edition, offered for a short time in Ironwood and mammoth ivory. Buck does it's special customs in limited numbers without much fan fare in the media.

Finally, here is a 'Grail' knife. It must be a custom made 1988 Model 309 from someone (maybe home made), I have never seen another or seen any information on it. My 'Make a Wish' knife would be this jigged scale with a regular Buck shield in a 303 Stockman. Change he sheepsfoot to a Warcliff and I might scream like a little girl.

First I've seen of the San Diego shed knives! Wow!!!
The 303s, splendid!! The Mammoth and Ironwood... amazzzzzing!
I really appreciate your sharing those today. Thank you very much.

Kind of weird IMHO that there's been no activity here for almost 6 hours. I'd have guessed that lots of us have some Buck knives, but maybe being a holiday weekend (with gorgeous weather where I am :)) is affecting traffic here. Anyway, I'm a self-styled canoesseur and have several Buck canoes. Since it's Stag Saturday, I'll post my favorite:

One of three I currently own. I don’t have a picture with of the 112( I will remedy that), and I don’t consider the othern to be traditional although it is the oldest knife purchased by me that I still own, bought 26 years ago.... I was 14.

I've only got 3 Bucks, but they are all significant. The MiniBuck was the first knife I recall my dad giving me, the Toothpick came from the Never Ending GAW, and the 55 was the first traditional I bought when I got back into traditionals. I would love to add one of the red sawcut delrin knives from the early '90s to my collection one day.

G.T. that stag canoe is gorgeous! Done really great knives being posted.. I am going to have to hunt for an older 110, I really like the square bolsters and lean, aggressive blade profile.

Wurrwulf Wurrwulf , I've only managed one of the red sawcut but it's nice! Here it is with a couple of other 305s

Here's a Chinese Buck 371 big stockman with G-10 covers (thanks, Randy):

I had to replace my 371 with G10 covers. :(
The truck poltergeist decided she(?) wanted/needed it more than I did.
Since it is pretty much indestructible, I keep it in the (Miami Sun 'Traditional') trike's tool bag.
That way, I always have a good stockman with me. (and it is not going to fall out of my pocket while I'm pedaling around town.) :)

I hope you let it keep some of your Buck canoes company in your EDC rotation. :)

Wow! That is a beautiful knife. I didn’t know Buck did a canoe pattern.

I carry a 112 to work most days. I’ll have to snap a picture to share once the workweek begins.

The 389 is the model number for the Buck canoe.
I think they have them with Amber Jigged Bone right now (to match the 371 stockman) at that big store that starts with a "W" that "everyone loves to hate" but still shops there. :)
