Buck fixed blade Fridays

Yesterday's mail call.... Cabela's replica 914 and a Josh Buck signed (blade is so danged polished and shiny, the signature got washed out in the pic) 1st release Gen5 (2007). Note the blade etching... "G-Five", changed to "Gen 5" afterwards.

I tried searching the forum to no avail, does anyone know when the Cabela's replica knives were made? The best I could find is "early 90's".

Update: I found a 2012 posting by Joe Houser in the BCCI forum answering a question about when the Cabela's knife was made:

"Hey guys, I did some digging and the catalog number is 8011. The computer tells me that we made these starting in 1990. There were a total of about 3800 made. Very cool looking knife looks like it would be a great hunting knife! "

I believe the leather handled Cabela's 914 was from 1992.
And the Ducks Unlimited knives were 1995.

There's a story about the blade stamp on those, and I cannot recall the details.

I like those 914's. And of course the original Marbles knives.

Funny, I don't have one of the Ducks Unlimited versions.

I often thought of sending a 103 to Leroy for a blade reprofile, and add a leather handle. Sorta like the knife Dave Martin ( RIP sir) had.

Thanks.

Funny you should mention having a 103 re-profiled.... I stumbled onto the 914 as it was listed as a 103, as such, it didn't draw a lot of attention, lucky for me.

I saw that myself. I was sorta looking with my 103 thought.

I didn't bid as I had one.
Cool that it ended up with someone here.
