Last year I saw a 110 / 112 Folding Hunter in the SMKW catalog and asked about it in this forum. Joe Houser responded about how it was made. Before I got around to ordering, it was sold out. So today, I noticed on-line they have the 11th hour Christmas catalog and it had a 110 / 112 folding hunter.

It had a quote from Ronald Reagon and I thought I better get it early. Well at the bottom of the page it said:

Temporarily out of stock. back order item

Wow, that was fast, a brand new catalog and it is sold out. Maybe next year, or whenever?

Maybe they're looking to see how many they can sell by pre-order before sending Buck a boatload of money...

IMHO, that is one ugly knife...but the price is right... ;)

Don't get me wrong...I like the knife...it's the garish etching I don't like... :grumpy:

True,
they should make one like this without any etches, or emblems in the handle!
Just a 110/ 112 OR a 110 DP and 110CP blades! That would be neat!

I dont like pastic thingys in the wood at allllllllllll
the etching is ok i like most of it... but palstic on a knife is so ...
50 60 ish...

You take knives apart & put them back together again. Removing the etching should be a piece of cake, if that's what's truly holding you back.

I just noticed Sunday night (11-12), they are back in stock. I really thought they would be out for good.

I'll bet that sucker weighs as much as a small Volkswagon.

If it is basically the same as the 110/112 Transistion knife, It weighs between 9 and 10 ounces. give or take a little.

Does the one in the link look like it has drop or clip blades?

You are too kind... :o

If it is acid etched, the blade will require refinishing - $46+ for the 3M Scotchbrite wheel, plus time & effort...If it is just painted (like the Cabelas 110AG logo), it *should* come right off with lacquer thinner...

Anyone who buys one, please tell us which it is... :)

Hello Trax,

Have you tried the 3M scotchbrite wheel on any blades? The reason I ask is that I bought an old ..112.. off of flea bay and the pervious owner abused it with an electric etcher. The etched all 4 bolsters and the blade. I know I can buff out the bolsters.......but, I'm not sure about the blade. Do you think the 3M scotchbrite wheel can buff out hand electric etching from a blade?

Well Fellas,

The mail man arrived today with my new transition 110/112. I put in the order last week when it was still listed as back order. The SMKW site did not send conformation of the order and in fact it looked as if the order froze and did not go through!!!!!! However, the knife is now in my collection and will be in the category of strange looking buck knifes :) . I just had to have one.....you know how it is......well I’m at work so I can't scan it for ya yet. Pics to follow.

Here a few scans. The brass spacer between the 2 blades is not polished where the thumb lock cut out is and still has the grinding marks visible :( . Can anyone who has a transition type of knife take a look and see if they are all like this?
