Buck Hoodlum anyone?

yes indeed, i love this particular store LOL...
first impressions...it feels real good in the hand, the balance is obviously gonna be towards the blade which will make it an excellent chopper for clearing brush and small saplings, and the micarta handles arent too rough so i imagine my hands wont take alotta abuse when using the knife hard.

I love mine... Here is a picture of the one that was special made and auctioned for the Jess Hood(Rons young son) College Fund..
The owner of Esse Knives bought it and had another auction (added a hunt and other cool things) then re auctioned this special knife off for Jess Hood College Fund. Less than 10 have ever been special coated all were differant..
Here is the Special Auction One of a Kind Hoodlum

id be scared id sit it down and itd be "lost" when i turned around. thats a great camo job and a great story behind the knife as well.

I ordered one two days ago. It will make a nice addition to my other Ron Hood knife...the TOPS 9" Anaconda.

I don't need a Hoodlum,

I have a forged by me Haebbielum. That makes my day (sometimes). ;) :)

after putting a little thought into it, i decided whats gonna be added to the Hoodlum to make it the ultimate camp knife. using the straps, i added a 112 with a nylon pouch, and in the pocket i put my favorite SAK, the allox farmer, and an old Buck steel ive had for years. bring on the warm weather and i'll be dissapearing into the timber i own with my Hoodlum setup and the M1A Socom. sweet

no problem. i havent took any recent pics of it, but here it is outta the box. the only changes ive made was a GI style leather sling and i bought a boatload of CheckMate 20 rd mags. LOVE this gun...using factory iron sights i can bang 12" steel targets at 300 yds all day long. only drawback is that the little carbine is a flamethrower.

Anyone have any custom leather made for the Hoodlum yet?

not that ive seen, but honestly i wouldnt use one if they did. the factory sheath is well made and the pouch and straps are very usefull. it saves me from having to strap more than one knife/sheath. i carry enough on my waist as it is.

Buck forum and you said "screw the Hoodlum"? shame on you LOL

I was just joking. I'm a long time fan & customer of Ron Hood( RIP :( ) and Hoods Woods. And my first brand name folder was a BuckLite way back in 1989 or 1990. So yeah I'm a Buck Knives fan too. :D

I've always wanted one. I'll probably go with the full length Match model, as I already have a Savage Scout as my short barrel rifle.

i have the Savage as well, and its a great shooter, but imo it would be a better gun if theyd have made it compatible with M14 mags or designed it with a hinged floorplate. i bent a feedlip on the factory mag by dropping it on gravel, and wasnt very pleased. seemed poor quality which in my experience isnt typical Savage

love that setup. i keep a 651 lashed to the side of my vehicle emergency bag but have been eyeing a Hoodlum as a replacement. really like the 112/Vic/steel addition.

The Hoodlum is one of the better designs to come out of the Buck factory, but I doubt it will ever attain the popularity of the 119. It is a very nice knife and a great survival tool that fits well in the hand. It may be the strongest piece of cutlery to ever exit the doors at Buck.

Haebbie, that is a sweet looking forged blade you've got, but of course were are talking apples and oranges here. I have a few custom bowie blades that benefit from marvelous tempering, and yes, 5160 is a super tough steel for any survival style blade. I guess I'd choose 5160 as the top shelf steel for any large chopper..even over any of the Swamprat offerings.

As far as that short .308 goes: anything with a truncated barrel is going to light up the sky with a brilliant flash no matter what kind of fodder goes in the tube!
