The mini iceman goes on sale every couple of months at Can Tire. I bought one 2 months ago when it was last on sale. Fine for $10 but not up to Idaho quality. The blade takes an ok edge but tends to roll. Not so good even for 420 HC. You are really not missing anything

The 424 is listed as "Buck Lite Folding Knife" on the CT site.

It hasn't gone on sale recently. I'm in the market for a couple more myself.

on sale this week...my local store has 31 at $10 each. Search buck knife on can tire webxite and i comes up as mini iceman. #75-2149-8

According to the Canadian Tire site, the 424 Buck Lite is now a discontinued item.

I saw some heavily discounted a few weeks ago.

Just thought I should comment on this multi page thread. Talk about these models per Canadian Tire and how much money is walking close to the forum rule line. I have been 'liberal' in not stopping talk about how much Bucks sell for on and when at some of the really 'big' stores. I have said nothing here because no precise info is given on location, etc. So just beware in talking about this subject that if you get too detailed we will have to say it is breaking forum rules. Basically, selling, who, where and how much have there specific threads elsewhere. In any money or location you have to step lightly. Just giving this info to new folks and as a reminder to the "experienced".

Canadian Tire has them on sale this weekend along with the Buck Mantis. $9.98 canadian dollars. (regular price $39.98 ...really??) They also send out 5.00 coupons on a regular basis which you can use so the price is really $4.98 Can$. That is about $4.25 USD. So it is a piece of crap, made in China. But it is anodized Aluminum handle with 420 HC stainless steel blade. The build fit and finish is ok, the normal Buck made in China quality. So it is a good buy for a cheap knife. They also have the Buck 110 folder made in USA Classic on sale often at $49. Can $. With the same $5.00 coupon the price is $44. Can$ or less than $40 USD. depending on the exchange rate. Plus you get Canadian Tire Bucks back, which is the substitute national currency of Canada. Good deal if you are looking for a cheap knife at a cheap price. I bought one of each to throw into the tackle box, they gut and clean a Salmon or Halibut just fine and are pretty resistant to the salt water.

Welcome to the forum fastball. If the forum rules didn't prohibit talking price and certain non-dealer vendors at your membership level then your post would be welcomed as that of a wonderful warm-hearted hero.

Please take a gander at the post just above your post.

However, you could give the terrific moderator, Craig, a heart attack and his lovely new bride could blade me and break both my legs, and my old legs are feeble already. Please consider amending your post to remove amounts and the vendor's name so that you won't have to face a "deal spotting" beef on your first post. I know. I was helpful at one time and was made to suffer and I would spare you that trauma. You could purchase a gold membership and talk price then.

I'll lock this thread soon I guess.
